Forget Netflix and chill, for one NHL star it was pizza and propose.
Ottawa Senators veteran defenseman Erik Karlsson got engaged to girlfriend Melinda Currey on Friday night with the help of all things, a pepperoni pizza.
The happy couple shared the news in a series of Instagram posts.
Currey called the pie and rock combo plate a “dream proposal” in a picture of the diamond ring sitting on top of the pizza.
“In case there was ever any doubt that he’s the one,” Currey shared, adding #dreamproposal #dreamguy.

Karlsson, 26, now in his eighth season with the Senators, then posted a “she said yes” photo to his Instagram page.
“Couldn’t be more proud to call her my forever,” the Swede shared. “Without her I’m nothing. #shesaidyes.”
The instant engagement photo album concludes with Currey posting a pic of the the apparent first post-engagement smoooch.
“The love of my life for the rest of my life. Here’s to us babe,” Currey said, adding that she was “still shaking.”
The NHLer stuck to tradition and dropped down to one knee to pop the question, an eyewitness told The Ottawa Citizen.
“It seemed really cute,” Kyle Cruickshank, a local restaurant owner, told the newspaper. “I assume she said yes.”
Karlsson, who took advantage of an off day in the NHL schedule to get engaged, returns to action Saturday night when the Senators host the Florida Panthers.
