Since HBO’s documentary about Elizabeth Holmes, founder of fraudulent health tech corporation Theranos, aired on March 18, the world has been on a mission to uncover even more details about the disgraced Silicon Valley exec. This time? Her relationship status, which—serious news flash!—is engaged (as in to be married) to hospitality heir William “Billy” Evans, according to Daily Mail.
Hey, hey, just because her once multi-billion-dollar biotech company is wayyyy down in the gutter doesn’t mean her love life has to be. In fact, it’s quite the opposite—apparently Holmes, 35, wears her 27-year-old beau’s “M.I.T. signet ring on a necklace” and the duo “regularly post stories on Instagram professing their love for each other,” Vanity Fair reports.
So, what do we actually know about this mystery man?
For starters, he comes from a well-known family. And a wealthy one too. Evans’ grandparents founded the Evans Hotel Group, which, per the company’s website, is the “premier provider of resort accommodations” in Southern California, primarily the San Diego area where Evans grew up.
Point number two: he also works—or worked?—in tech. After graduating M.I.T. in 2015 with a bachelor’s in economics, Evans worked at LinkedIn then Luminar Technologies, a company focused on creating and developing a market for driverless cars. (According to his LinkedIn, which is the only form of social media that is not private, he stopped working there in Jan. 2019.)
The pair also share a “luxury apartment” in San Francisco where they co-parent Holmes’ “wolf-dog” Balto, per Daily Mail. Yup, you read that right: “wolf-dog.”
Holmes repeatedly told—and might even still tell—people that her Siberian husky, which comes from a breed that has a tiny trace of wolf origin, is in fact 100 percent a wolf, according to The Cut. Add that to the list of unsubstantiated claims made by Holmes.
As of now, there’s no word (ironic, no?) on when, where, or how their nuptials will take place.
But, I mean, that kind of makes sense given she’s just out there waiting for a trial date after pleading not guilty (along with her ex-boyfriend and former Theranos COO, Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani) to two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and nine counts of wire fraud.
